Wendy, I am out west too but am sure it will take me at least 2 hrs to even narrow it down to a few favorites.

Dara Beth:

Well I finally have finished my top.  It is not exactly what I wanted. I had really wanted to piece squares for the outside corners that echoed the 8 sided shapes in the middle but I wanted to be finished more than I wanted the blocks and because I have so darn many other projects waiting on me. :-)  At least I managed to use up all of those small half square triangles. yea!  It measures about 102 by 84.

Anyway, here it is.  I think I'll call it Fall Splendor for the colors.  This will be a high school graduation present for the boy next door when I get it quilted.  I stood on the bed to get the last picture.

I'm right there with Marsha, definitely doing a happy dance and thrilled to be able to call it complete.  'Course, I still have to quilt & bind it, but I'm over this hurdle. :o)

Absolutely gorgeous, Dara Beth!!

Brenda E:

Well I finally finished the top. It is a bit strange for me to post a picture of only the quilt top with the quilt not yet finished. I don't usually take a picture until I have completed it entirely.

I have to say that doing a Mystery Quilt was fun and I by making it scrappy I had to give up some control on the arrangement of fabrics, so all in all it was a wonderful experience. Now to decide on quilting design and get this thing finished.

Very pretty, Brenda.  I like the bright colors you chose.

Jacy:

So many beautiful quilts all from the same pattern, haven't seen one yet that I didn't like!

My quilt top is not done in time for viewer's choice but I thought I should at least post a picture in progress. I have the center completed but no border yet. Here's the quilt with the border I'm considering. The border will require 640  2 1/2" squares, that could take a while to cut let alone sew!

I like your background fabric, Jacy.  It really warms up the quilt.

Donna: whenever you sew two pieces of fabric together they often don't remain perfectly square, especially when sewing squares onto corners of a larger square.

To square up: use your ruler and remeasure the square.  Trim off the corners that are not within the 4.5" x 4.5" square. You will need to turn the block to trim all 4 sides.

Hope this helps.  PM me if you need some pictures.  My granddaughter is asleep in my sewing room right now.  I can send you or post pictures later.

Yes Karen I would appreciated pics when you get the chance,  but please dont wake up the granddaughter.  My concern is that is this making the square smaller or are you just trimming the corners.

To solve the problem on the scrappy project for July where we need 30  12 1/2 by 12 1/2 squares,  I have made the 2 squares that I have finished (yes only 2 lol) 14 by 14 and then used by 12 1/2 square ruler, centered the ruler in the middle and trimmed all sides.  But that does mean material goes into the trash.  Self teaching quilting is a difficult task.

Well, I was unable to get my quilt top finished before deadline.  Between taking a vacation to Las Vegas and then getting sick this past week, as well as having to finish a quilt order for a customer, I just didn't get mine finished on time.  I will still post pics when I do finally get it done.

Everyone did such beautiful jobs on the quilts.  I love how each one looks so different just by the difference in fabric choices, regardless of using the same pattern.  I really enjoy looking through all the photos!

Looking forward to the next Mystery Quilt project, and hoping I can get that one done on time!  :o)
