didash:

I have another question for the group.....has anyone marked on muslin with a permanent marker? Does it "bleed"??? I've started a Christmas gift for my niece while we wait for the next MQ step. The quilt is a "College Days Memory Quilt". I want to use a plain back (white, off white, light blue) and give her a permanent marker with the quilt so that she can have her college friends autograph the back.  Not sure what kind of material to use for the back....any and all suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!! I'm really at a loss here....Thanks in advance!

I would not use a permanent marker.  I would buy a fabric pen that is meant to write on fabric.

I saw some posts from people who were having trouble getting their points to match for Step 3.  I put together a photo of the steps I take in the hopes it will help someone else.  I hope it doesn't confuse anyone further!  Almost done with Step 3, just a few more of these points to go together.  Back to work tomorrow... ugh!

I would say bigtime yes!  And permanent to me from past experience doesn't wash out only fades a jacket I made for DH still shows the proof!

Absolutely use a fabric pen....they come in different colors. I have a set by Fons &Porter.  You also need to heat set the ink  so it doesn't bleed when washed. It tells you this on the package.  Hope this helps.

Diane, the comment RE: the marker pens was for you. A light colored cotton fabric works well .

Linda, your fabric is absolutely gorgeous!  (Purples, my favorite colors in the whole world.)

Your blocks are beautiful.  I can't wait to see this quilt finished!

didash:

Thought I'd post a pic of the pup's new boat/travel bag (we always have so much "stuff" to take for her!  First time I've ever tried to make something like this. The quilting was the EASY part! LOL!

Didash-the pup's bag is adorable!  Lucky pooch!!

Jeanne, I'm off for the day, but if you let us know what you're having issues with, I'm sure someone online will answer pretty quickly.

Have fun,

Margaret

Maggie Nae, thank you so much.  You may well have saved Steve's life.  I was just at a block in my brain and wasn't making sense to myself so thought I had better check out those tips on the little hst's.  Don't want to waste those little gems.  Have you ever twisted and turned material so many times trying to visualize and it just won't happen?  That is where I was at.  Thanks again
