Hello everyone. I finished up Step 3 this morning so here are some of what I completed. Now ready for Step 4! Hurry up Friday...
Hi Jim, don't think I've welcomed you to the group so WELCOME! I'm not making this quilt but I've joined it to be a cheerleader. You will catch up I'm sure, can't wait to see your fabrics so post when you have time. I agree that we have a talented group here.

Thanks for the welcome messages. I'm at work right now but will try to post a photo tonight if I can get a decent one. Using a line called "Birch Bark Lodge". I think of them as forest colors. Lots of browns, greens, tans, rust and a little blue. Something along the lines of cabin in the woods colors. We'll see how it works.
What a long weekend- just home from visiting my 16 mo. old grandson and now it's time to tackle step 3. Can't wait to get sewing.
Marylin, You are very good to do all that counting. i did a lot of counting but I kept loosing count so I cut extra just in case.
That was good though, as when i sewed them together, I had to discard a few.
Now the 2.5" squares I strip pieced. I have a pile left over which i may need if i did not balence my colors well enough.
More for the stash!
Back to making some dandelion jelly.
good luck!
Janet
Here is the fabric palette I'm planning on using. I hope it'll work ok with this Mystery Quilt. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'll be spending tonight trying to finish up step 1.
Jim, those are really neat fabric squares; I look forward to seeing the blocks come together.

Marilyn B: Very cool Janet. I have not had time to catch up on the chat here, been golfing, gardening and sewing. Is it me or does the 96 squares in step 2 and the 56 squares in step 3 add up to 152 and as we cut 160 squares I have 8 left not 4, will these extra 4 be used somewhere else? also if I add all the 2-1/2 inch squares, 384+96+96(one on each end)+56 I get 632 not 628 which we were told to cut but I must have goofed somewhere as I still have 30 2-1/2" squares left. I have recounted my numbers for each step but they are right. so where did I go wrong.

Sometimes with something like this where you don't know the end result, it might be safer to play it chicken! :-)
