I think you all know me as Julie T. I thought I had introduced my self already in my profile. Is this different from that? ? Has any of you ever created a quilt from just looking at a picture, then coming up with your own measurements and pattern pieces? I've been working on this kind of Quilt. Now we on the border & can't get the size lined up, any idea's?Julie T.

Julie

Can you post a pic of what you are working with?    Without seeing what the problem is it is very hard for me to give advice.

Julie,

your profile is only seen by those who directly click on your name. When you "introduce yourself" everyone sees it and gets to welcome you.

yes, i've done this, several of us on here have also.    when doing borders,   measure  the center down the length and cut 2 borders out that measurement and sew them to the two sides. then take the measurement down the center the other direction cut those borders out and stitch them.   if your side get a littel wavy, you can get them back into square by using this  measurement.   i locate the center points of the side and border and sometimes the 1//4 points on each of those, pin those points before stitching.   you may need to ease the border on.

Hey Julie -- Gini explained it very well but here is the link to a blog post that has the same directions but with pictures.  I think it helps to have pictures -- http://quiltinggallery.com/2009/02/14/adding-borders-to-a-quilt-by-deb-geyer/
