Hi - I absolutely love this thread and about a year ago had to do a search to find it at a reasonable price - I found it at a store in Georgia for around $7.50 a spool - the larger spools... well the price went up to $8.39 but that was still a good price even with the shipping cost - I buy it usually 10 spools at a time and am building up my collection of colors for quilting... Not that I don't have enough threads but most of my colors are polyester threads and I really don't like quilting my quilts with them - I use them for embroidery...

My local quilt shops in this area sell aurifil for over $11 a spool...

If you are interested in buying some before the end of the day tomorrow for $7.75 a spool go to

http://www.pumpkinvinecorner.com and put New Years in the comment section on the 2nd page when you are paying for it.  The discount will be done after he gets your order - so originally the price charged witll be 8.39 which is still cheaper for me then anything around me - but he will send you a 2nd email with the corrected price - I bought 20 spools this time and my savings came to around 3 spools of thread - even with the cost of the shipping...

Just thought I would pass this on as I was told again that aurifil threads are going up in price in 2012... had hoped since cotton prices had gone back down that we might get a break but guess it will not happen... they got to raise the prices and people paid so guess what - they make more profit on us now...

a talk for another day!

Nana - I truly love it - low lint and this is the best price I have found and I have searched and searched.  I get their email about sales and this is a nice one - down to 7.75 per the larger spools - I use Alex's thread for all my piecing and am starting to use it for quilting - I haven't used the large cones yet but eventually will try them too - the site has the small hangers for quilts on sale too.

Do you know if you can use it for hand quilting?  Saw the quilt out loud show last night and they were talking about this thread. piecing, quilting, and embroidery......quilting?  hand or machine? or both?

Thanks Thea!  I am not real happy with the last spool of coat and clark thread for handquilting that I bought.  When Dh and I went to Joann's I bought a spool of gutermann  274 yds of what the sign said was strongest, compared to the same brand, sitting next to it.  I haven't tried it yet.  All that has been around is the local walmart so I have always used coats and clark.  Its fun to learn about different types.  I guess I have been closed off until I came to QCA.  never knew there  were so many available before.....

You were definitely the enabler for the day....LOL>   7 spools of thread, 2 packs of hand needles, and a quilting stencil later......

Thanks Thea, I will definitely check that out.  I have only used a small spool of it because it is so hard to find.  I love their colors, but have always thought it was a tad too expensive for me.

I kind of like that title Nana - head enabler of the day - lol - but I really think this is a good deal or I wouldn't have put it out here - I really truly do love Alex's thread - I think he has done a wonderful job trying to give quilter's the best.  I have used it for about 3 years now.  Very little lint in my bobbin and the bobbins fill fuller and a spool seems to go farther.  I did not, however, like it when it went up to over $11 in my local quilt shop so I hunted to find a place that seemed more reasonable and I like this place - my order that I place early today has already been shipped... and my DH says the shipping costs what it would cost me in gas to go to my LQS so the savings is enough for me to buy from him all the time...lol

Head Enabler on New Year's Eve...teehee

Thea

My shipping cost was phenomenal. Less than $2.50 for everything.   And it shouldn't take long to get it since it comes from Ga.   Thanks for letting us know about the site.  He also has good prices on the Mettler thread that I like for embroidery.
