I would like to know how are our point calculated.  I notice that some people have 50, some have 20 and some have 5 points.

Arzella, did you notice that your points jumped from 5 to 20 after I replied to your initial posting?

Wow!  Now you have 35 points...so must have something to do with replies to original posts.

this question comes up periodically.  In part I think it has to do with how many responses you get.  (where you are quoted?)  But there has never been an answer I can remember as to what happens with those points.

Donna

When someone clicks on reply in your post it adds 15 points to your total points in that post.   Each time someone clicks on that post it adds 15 more points.

If you notice under your avatar it gives you a running total of your points.   Nobody has ever told us what the points were for....some mentioned a prize for the highest points.....maybe a longarm.....ROFLOL.   So far none of us have reached a high enough level to get the longarm.........

Five points for your own post and 15 every time someone replies specifically to your post. This is why I reply to each person in turn so everyone gets his/her points. You don't get points for replying to your own posts.

Thanks Donna.  It makes sense now, but do you also know what the color coded bars mean under each person's avatar?

My guess is that it is an indicator of your points.  Both of us are in the 200's so we currently have 2  green bars.  Marge P's is 375 and she has 4 green bars..so it must average up to the next 100 points.  Again, just my guess.  Those elite contributors that are in the thousands, have all green bars.  Way to go - but I don't know how they get any quilting done with all the posting they do...LOL!  (Maybe their in another time warp or something!)

If you hover over the bars you'll see that they tell where you rank on the site. The full set of bars are for the top 10 contributors.

Donna,

I've been on QCA since day one. That accounts for my numbers (mostly).
