Love the zebra.  I have a couple of these patterns, a fish, the turtle, and i am not sure what else.  Will have to try them.

I have one of the fish patterns, but I was in a hurry and did not do the stripes or checkerboard as the pattern suggests.  I think if I was to do the stripes, I would draw it out as paper piecing first so I wouldn't have to deal with all of the triangles.

Here's the ones I made for work...  I'm sure they would be even cuter had I followed the directions and made the patterned fabric first.  These were really easy and a lot of fun!

Those fish are adorable. The zebra actually was pretty much like paper piecing, you made a muslin of the body and pieced the stripes on to that. Paper piecing without the paper :)

wow kmrchr  your post is almost a year old and today there is great interest in the patterns. did you make one?? I adore the fish Claudette made as they are , I love something to work on a crafty sewing project between the piecing and my embroidery work. I'm going to look into the patterns I think a cow for  us in TX is appropriate. Perhaps a turtle for a friend who's husband is raising those great big boys. The zebra looks so cute I can't tell if he is black & white or white & black!! lol and I am sure that any person receiving one would nay say a darn thing about color placement.. lol
thanks for the tip on fabric allotment. that would save some heartbreak in the mist of making something for the first time.

Ohmigosh!  These are too cute!!  I'm so glad this post got bumped.  I'm between projects now and have been looking for some good patterns to make dog toys with to use up all my scraps that are too small to use even in scrappy quilts (I put them in a separate "stuffing" bin.)

I think I'll try the elephant, although that zebra is *adorable* too.  Elephant just looks quicker/easier.  :)

The zebra was actually made for last Christmas and the giraffe will be for this one. Glad to hear it went together fairly easily, kmrchr! I mention the color placement on the zebra because the stripes are irregular and it will NOT go together if you don't reverse the instructions for A fabric and B fabric. This may have been corrected by now, tho, I did send a note to the maker. I swear I'm not going to double post this time! Sherry

Thanks for all of the compliments on my fish.  I do plan on making more in the future - they were easy and really fun to make.  I need to get more of these patterns, as all of these look really cute.  I love that turtle - that will probably be next on my list.

Carolyn - I am with you.  I am glad this got revived.  I totally missed it the first time around.  These animals are really cute.  What child wouldn't love one?

I want to say thank you to all the rumpled quilt skin enablers who've now provided me with something else to make. LOL.
