Hi everyone,
My name is Helen and I am new to the QCA community!
Here is a little bit about me. I think I am a pretty "young" quilter. I am 29 years old and I have only been quilting for about 3 years. In that time I have grown quite a bit as a quilter and I am always looking to gain new skills and take new classes.
I love every part of the quilting process, from picking out the fabric for a new project to piecing the quilt to actually quilting it. For a long time, my favorite part of the process was piecing the quilt top. I loved watching it come together piece by piece and I loved the precision involved in making the points line up. However, I recently found a new favorite part of the process! I just started doing needle turn applique, and I love it! I love picking out the pieces of fabric for each part of the applique and I find it very peaceful and calming to sit on the couch at night and stitch.
My husband's grandma got me started quilting. She learned to quilt from her mother and her grandmother and the skill had been passed down from generation to generation in her family. She was thrilled to pass it along to me so that the legacy of quilting would be kept alive in the family. When I visit her again, she is going to teach me how to hand quilt so that I can add that to my skill set.
I am thrilled to have found QCA. From what I have seen so far, it is a wonderful community! I look forward to learning a lot from all of you as well as contributing what I have to give to the community!
Thanks,Helen

Welcome, Helen.
Welcome, Helen. Quilting is all about tradition...even if you are the generation that starts the tradition. I come from a line of quilters as well and enjoy quilting with my mom, daughter, sisters, niece. It is really special to be able to have something like that to bond us together. We have all been quilting since we could walk so I never thought about if I was a young quilter or not. It just was. I'm glad you have discovered quilting and hope it brings you years of joy!!
