Lady_Amalthea:
I feel like a bit of a slacker since I have to play a game of catch up:  I just finished cutting my groups into squares and rectangles this evening.

Sounds like you're catching up just fine.  I, on the other hand, am hopeless.  I'm newly retired and have somehow committed myself to more organizations and activities in town than I can handle.  I can't believe that I now have 6 quilts going at once (having traditionally been a one-at-a-time type of gal), and some of them absolutely MUST get finished ASAP.   I fully intend to get caught up on this before the mystery is revealed, so I hope it rains all weekend!

I finally finished Step 3 today (haha).  At least I thought I had finished.......how did I miss those little words about creating a second set of each section.. So, guess I am only half way done with Step 3.  My oldest granddaughter (9) is coming over tomorrow to learn to sew a doll blanket for her little sisters for Christmas and then I have a fund raiser for a BSA Troop at McDonalds at night so no more sewing till Friday.  Drat!    At least at this fundraiser we're just eating -- last time I had to stand on a busy street corner by the mall with a big sign asking people to "turn here for Boy Scout Fundraiser".  Nothing more appealing  than a senior citizen waiving a sign asking you to eat at Mickey D's.

Teaching a granddaughter to sew in precious - Friday will come soon enough - enjoy that little one! I love sewing with my 5 year old granddaughter. I'm not done with step 3 yet either - but I will get there!

My little 3 year old grand-daughter , Hailey, just LOVES batido as she calls it.  I'm afraid she's going to be a fabric freak like me.

Every piece of my quilt  that I sew for my blocks, I have to sew two pieces of fabric, usually my scraps, together for her.

Sometimes she gets up behind me in my chair  when I sew and serenades me with her sweet children songs.  Sometimes its Brittany Spears or the theme song to the Wizard of Oz or a church song about Geezus.  She can't say Jesus very well, but that's okay.

Every minute with grand babies is so precious. Quilting will wait, but the babies won't.  I can't wait to teach her how to sew.

Nancy,

I'm not sure we are going to get the rain this weekend (I'm south of you in Iowa), but it is supposed to cool down.  You can always pretend it is raining!

Hope you get caught up!

Finally got finished with Step 3.  Still not sure about my fabric selection; definitely not a strength.  Everyone's fabric and work is wonderful.  Tomorrow will be Step 4!

I think your fabrics are very pretty and go together well.  Can't wait to see what tomorrow's instructions bring!

I really like the colors you picked.  They're  a soft combination.
