Nana:

Diane

I like doing all of it myself too.  It would be nice if you could find somewhere that lets you rent time on a longarm to quilt your large quilt.  It would make it much easier than tussling it thru your machine.  Just enjoy the process.   Anxious to see what you do to finish it.

Nana~

I do have a LQS that you can rent the LA. I've never tried it and I don't know if I could even do it. I get out of breath so easily that I might not have enough strength to even push the machine. I'll have to ask to at least push the machine and see how it is. With the large quilts, I'll do the quilting in sections so it won't be so bad going through the throat. We're all waiting for you to quilt yours! Like nana....like underlings.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Yes my border is appliquéd. I fused the pieces and sewed then down on the machine. It would have taken too long by hand.

BTW, did anybody notice the block that sewn wrong? I saw it after I posted the pics. I'm not sure yet if I'll fix it.

Linny, there's a close up photo in the MQ3 group.

LA's are very easy to move.  You can actually move a machine with one finger.  I think you would be pleasantly surprised.  You can do a whole quilt in about 1/3 of the time it takes on a DSM....sometimes even less.  Especially if you do an overall meander.  The hardest part is getting the quilt loaded on the frame but if you have someone that could do that part for you I think you would do great.

I've been absent for quite some time now and just finally figured how to get logged in again.  I did work on a quilt today and actually finished the piecing of the top just a few hours ago.  It is called 3's Company Sampler Quilt and mine measures 93X111.  I enlarged it from the original pattern so it would fit our bed.  I plan on custom quilting it on my longarm.  Now which UFO to work on next?  Oh, BTW, it is hanging lengthwise instead of top to bottom as even that way it still dragged the ground!

Jean~

Good to hear from you. I think of you often. Hope you are doing o.k. Your quilt is beautiful. I think I am going to have a do sampler of some sort. I'm drawn to them. That's one large quilt!
