PD,

I order my stencils from The Stencil Company in western PA near Pittsburgh.  She has lots of stencils and usually has a sale or two during each quarter. She is very quick to send your order out, too.   Hope this helps.

WTG Kris, now keep up the momentum.

Nana:
WooHoo Kris.  Now let's keep up the momentum and whip out some quilts.   You can do it ....  You can do it.....

Thanks for the encouragement Spud and Nana. I'm working on some applique here at work then I'll make another birthday block when I get home. i hoping to work on my "UFO" this weekend.

Lee:
I thought I would use it for piecing as regular thread seems to be too "thick" and causes loss of seam allowance.  Someone mentioned Aurifil and I saw SULKY at  Jo-Ann's, was on my way out and just grabbed it.  It is so thin, I figured my seams would be better.

You could use a thinner cotton like a 60 wt.

Thea--This project was to use up leftovers. I had plenty yardage of both for the original project which had already become two from the original one. Now it will be three albeit the third might be a little smaller than I ideally would like.

Thea:
I usually cut very scrimpilly

I'll join you in the use of that word "scrimpilly."  That's why this is the third and not just the second project from this set of fabrics.

I usually use 50 wt and always seem to have problems with my blocks being just slightly smaller than they should be.  Maybe I better try to use thinner thread.  I've checked the needle position on the machine, and I used a 1/4 foot, but they are always just a smidgen off.

Karla

Do you move your needle just a thread or two to the right with your 1/4 in foot.   This gives you a scant 1/4 in seam.  Your block size should be right with this method.  If you have your needle set for an exact 1/4in seam then your block will be just a little small.

i got princess' quilt back from the LAer.  i told her to use what ever pattern she wanted to.  she quilted a tea party   there are teapots, sugar bowls, cups with steam coming up and flowers.   some of the teapots have cherries on them some have flowers.   anna is enchanted wth her teaparty quilt ( and so was i), she asked that i call fonda and thank her.  i'll get a picture tomorrow.   anna is now going to learn how to stitch a fine seam on the binding.   she got about an inch done this evening.   i think i will have to help or it will take until she's 92  just to finish the binding.

Are you talking about hand-stitching?

Amazing quilt, Patti!  You don't do easy quilts, do you.  Can't wait to see this one when it's done.

Did you finish the Roman blinds?

I did not work on a quilt today.  :-(

We have guests coming tomorrow evening, so today was house cleaning and grocery shopping, and tomorrow will be cooking and entertaining.  I so want to finish my paper piecing quilt.

yep, she's always wanting to help me with my applique, and i end up letting her and taking out the stitches.   this is perfect.  she can sew to her hearts delight, she's good for 5 or 6 minutes at a time.  it's her quilt, so that's cool if the stitches are uneven, it looks great to her.
