PD

I found some really pretty stencils at www.pumpkinvinecorner.com.     They also have really good prices on Aurifil thread.   Hope this helps.

Granny Agnes:
The green that is available is slightly different. Just spent an hour trying to figure out fabric requirements to finish this. That doesn't get any sewing done.
The reason I have so much fabric - lol - unless I am looking and buying specifically for a quilt my rule of thumb is 3 yards - I used to buy fat quarters and then when I got around to using them I found that all the patterns I wanted to make called for between 2 and 3 yards of a fabric - now sometimes I wish I had a little more then 3 yards of a fabric as some patterns call for more - I usually cut very scrimpilly(new word in Thea's dictionary) on those and get what I need - I find that most patterns call for about 1/4 yard more then you actually need.

So you see I don't debate on how much I need... I just buy - but not this year - nope sticking to my guns this year - and not buying anything new in 2012...lol

I am betting myself on how long I can stick to this...

Kind of been MIA lately, but have been seeing all your wonderful projects. Working on Lizzie the past 2 days and thought we had her rolling then yesterday, but a little wall hanging on her and she didn't like it, so she is right back at skipping stitches, so then I decided that I'd better get busy on a "Doll Quilt" swap project, so went to Joann's this morning and got some blue kind of looks like sky for a lighthouse background. Boy  all the colors are so dark and looking like the kindergarten kids broke into the crayon box. Actually, they are 70's I guess that is what they are suppose to be. So, I digging into my last year's stash for some pretty fabric. Been dealing with a head cold or else I've developed some allergies so the tissues are all over the place or so it seems, a real pain. I feel pretty good other than having to blow and wipe. As soon as I get the block basted, I'll post it.

Yesterday, we took a ride down to the "Erie Land Lighthouse" here for some pictures to send along with the swap as that is what I'm doing but hope the light would have stayed just a couple of minutes more, or we had moved a bit faster. Oh well.

Thanks Nana, I'll check it out.  I've never used Auriful thread but I've heard so much about it, I think I will buy some.  Thanks!

Patti - that looks like it will be a really pretty quilt when it is finished.  I am sure your friend will love it.

I think you will really like Aurifil thread.  It seems to go so much further per spool.  I love using it.

I recently purchased spool of SULKY 100% rayon.  It is 1500 yds big and I paid $10.99.   Was that too much, and is rayon okay?

I would say the price is about right, haven't  bought any for a long time. As to if it is okay, it would depend on what you are using it for.

I don't like using rayon for quilting.  I always use cotton thread for my piecing and quilting.

Your welcome Lee.  You did not say what you are using the Sulky for, you don't have to say I'm just being nosy.

@ Spudgrandma - I thought I would use it for piecing as regular thread seems to be too "thick" and causes loss of seam allowance.  Someone mentioned Aurifil and I saw SULKY at  Jo-Ann's, was on my way out and just grabbed it.  It is so thin, I figured my seams would be better.

While sorting through my scraps to select scrap to donate, I got caught up in sorting by color and ended up making this quilt.

Now I want to sort all my scrap by color and make the other hundred quilts swimming in my head...

This is not my year to stay focused!  I really need to work on quilting all the quilt tops I already have sitting around my quilt studio!
