gini:you two are putting a whole new dimension on getting your t*ts caught in a wringer
Ooh, Gini, painful!
Well, so that some of my fellow quilters will quit teasing me about my lack of productivity (over in another thread), I've got a couple of pictures of this afternoon's practice with straight lines using HQ rulers. The practice project is the borders of my long overdue MQ 4. Using the rulers proved to be somewhat tricky because I felt I needed to press down on them a bit to keep them from moving, yet the plastic "table" underneath is fairly small and moves as I move the sewing head, so I had to learn how to stay in control of that. Did that make sense? Do others of you use rulers, or do you use wheel locks?
Pic 1: Zig zags along the inner border using the versa-tool. (The ink guidelines will iron out.)
Picture 2: Parallel lines along the outer border using the HQ straight edge.
Now that I've practiced these lines, I can tackle quilting my retreat leaf quilt. Pictures of that will come in the next day or two.

Nancy your quilt work is beautiful was using the rulers tedious?
Life is like a quilt...bits & pieces, joy & sorrow, stitched with love
At first, I didn't like the rulers and thought about using my DSM with walking foot to finish these borders. But after a while, I got more comfortable and realized I could move much quicker with the mid-arm than I could have with my domestic. I did have to take the quilt off, turn it, and re-pin in order to do the side borders.
Nancy, you are doing beautiful work.
I may have to try that one day, when I get my Grandkids quilts done. I'm going to keep them simple with FMQ so I can get them finished. Again, great job.
Thanks, Leslie! :-)
MN Nancy,
Just beautiful work! Great job with the rulers. I have used the rulers and, like you, have trouble holding the ruler still. You have done a fantastic job. I have the HQ ruler but haven't used it yet. I like the lines you did in the small border with the ruler. Will have to keep it in mind.
Hi RamonaC,
The only reason that my DH agreed to the red snappers is that he came into my studio and suprised me, I turned around too quickly and tore a nice long scratch into my belly, thnak GOD not my boob!. I should bleed more often, I get such good goodies! LOL!

Thanks Judy Lee. I looked at that the other day and they were out of stock, looks like they have them now so I had better get busy and order. Again, Thanks!
Hi Nancy ,
I like using the rulers when I don't have a ruch on! I also have a ruler base on Miss Jewel, I don't think I could use my rulers without it!
