Romana, thank you.  Have you looked on ebay.  I know they have the needles, search under longarm machines or gquilting supplies.

Hi Ramona C, You stumped me! What is A&E Perma Core?  I buy all of my thread at Superior Threads at wholesale prices but I want to try the YLI glow in the dark thread.

Just finished another queen quilt for a client and learned that you really can do a rag quilt on a long arm!

I had a nightmare last night!  I came into this building that had some longarm machines set up.  Someone was setting up a Gammil for me to try.  They said I needed to see if I liked it better than the APQS.  Then I looked over and saw Mabel taken apart and ready to be shipped back.  I started screaming and saying that's not what I wanted.  I ran to find my APQS dealer who was not happy with me at all.  I told her I don't want to give Mabel back.  Yikes!!  I wonder if there is a deeper meaning or I'm just not getting enough sleep.  It was scary, though.  Maybe Mabel is mad that I'm not using her more.

Jeanine, I dream about quilting all the time, but never a nightmare liek that. I am sure Mabel loves you you need to spend more time with her.

Too funny....maybe you need to give her a good shot of compressed air and WD-40, a little oil and some wax on her rails.  That ought to put you back in her good graces and get her to stop haunting your dreams! ;)

Oh Jeanine, that was a nightmare!

It seems after going through the learning curve and getting comfortable with our machines,  Naming them, Petting them, they become part of who and what we are! The mere thought that someone might come and take Miss Jewel away from me is fighting word!

I know my "Daisy" is upset because I don't use her enough, but this week I'm going to get her busy.  I have about 10 quilt tops to load and quilt...need some more batting now and don't know if I have enough backing material for some of them, so I just might have to go visit my friend "Jo-Ann" today after I get the boys off to school.  I've got so much to do to get ready for Christmas.  I still need to piece 2 or 3 more tops...oh well, what gets done, gets done.

Judy Lee,

A&E Perma Core is a longarm thread. It made by American & Efird. It'as a cotton wrapped poly. Works great on my machine. I go between the perma core, Bottom Line and Signature. I haven't used any of the YLI. You'll have to let me know how that glow in the dark thread works for you. Kids would love that! What type of machine do you have?

How did you quilt the rag quilt? Did you meander it or do "X's" in the blocks?

I saw one you tube on glow in the dark quilting, I was magnificent.  I don't know that I want all my stiches to stand out like that just now.  I am still trying to figure out what needles to use with what thread so I have some practicing to do.

Vivian,

I'll have to see if I can find that video. You're right though about the stitches...I'm not sure I'd want mine to show either. lol Even though I've had my machine for a couple of years, I'm still learning about threads and needles. I have tried but it always breaks the thread. I've stuck with the 3.5 for everything and it's worked so far. I'm sure they'll be a time when I need to change. I've done about 125 quilts on Martha Mae and have tried using  different needles here and there. She just doesn't seem to like the change.

I love it, but I'll never be that good.  Unless I retire and work at it all day long for practice.
