That is exciting, Elizabeth,

Relax and enjoy!  Do you have a ruler base on your Jewel?  If so, use rolled up pieces of painter's tape to help hold your ruler and slow and steady wins the race with rulers.

MNnancy:
I just joined a new church, and they have a charity quilt group and they TIE their quilts.  I'm going to join their group and take the brave leap and offer them my service to machine quilt their tops.

That's awesome!  I'm sure they will appreciate what you can offer and it is a great way to meet people and make friends.

This is a couple of days later, but we got to go out on the HARLEY last night for about four hours.

Yeah!  It is just refreshing to get out and ride!  We are enjoying our visit here in KC.  Camden is a cutie.

Yes I do have a ruler base.  I changed my mind, with the help of a neighbor and going to use a groovy board spriral for the body.  Have loaded the quilt twice now, did it backward the first time.  I have to laugh at myself.  Read the directions twice, watched three video's and still did it wrong.  It is a fact of life I do EVERYTHING backwards hehe.  Am ready to start basting now but am taking a brain break.

We're waiting for a progress report, Elizabeth.  How did your experience with the groovy boards go?

It's going great.  Have done three rows.  Since it is a 9 patch pizzaz I have had to start and stop where the big blocks are.  Then resume.  And I am DOING IT.  Took some pictures and was just getting ready to post them when my friend called.  She bought a Bernina 630 yesterday and was having a meltdown setting it up.  It is now up and running and I am home.  Will post the pictures in my gallery, or can I do it here?

I have one quilt laid out on the family room floor ( we took all the furniture out of it to put carpet down and have decided to replace the furniture as well on some far, far distant day, so in the meantime, I have some great work space on the floor!!)

I have been looking at it for days now and have finaly come up with a simple quilting pattern for it.  I told the lady who made the quilt what i was doing and she said she didn't realize what a process it was to pick a pattern.  Maybe not for someone else but it is for me.

Vivian I agree, sometimes the quilt pattern comes to me while I am making the top and sometimes that top just sits until I know what to do.  You may not believe this but I dream about quilting, the piece I am quilting on the longarm (my first longarm project) I saw that quilt in a dream, and last night I had a dream about how to quilt it.  sometimes I dream about a certain person when I am making a quilt and then that quilt goes to them.  Weird but thats h0ow my life has played out, through dreamsa both good and bad.

Hi Elizabeth,

Congrats on getting it loaded.  I hated those videos on how to load my quilts, going back a forth around the machine only confused me.  I had to find a short cut or a simpler way to do it.  After you finish that one. email me and I will share what I do, It may make it easier for you.
