I think this wedding quilt that I am making for my daughter is going to be quite an adventure. I made the first block and then had dreams about this quilt all night. But I do have one block done and have decided to post my progress so you, too, can share my dreams (or nightmares) with me. I have also finished all the pieced sashing in four different widths. It feels to have begun. I've had this kit since last spring and I've been afraid of it.
Piles of sashing...
The paper side of the block...
The front of the block in progress...
The first finished block. I did my first curved seam and I'm quite proud of myself. What was I so scared of all these years? This is one quarter of the New York Beauty style block. This one is oblong and there will also be round ones. Some will only be half a sunburst and some whole.
Hopefully, I'll have another block or two to share after this weekend.
WOW Jeanine, that is so beautiful. What is the name of the quilt pattern and where did you get it? The fabrics are wonderful. Very exciting.

I ordered it from Keepsake Quilting. It is called High Desert Paprika. It is going to be Queen size. I also bought some really wide fabric for the backing so I don't have to piece it. It is in a deep gold "brush strokes" pattern.

Looks like they are on back order now.
Jeanine,
It looks great. I saw this kit at KQ but didn't buy it. I put it on my wish list.
Jeanine, I love the color wave. I do not like paper piecing but have 2 more to do... maybe by the time I get done I might like it - who knows. looks like you are doing a very nice job. Thank you for sharing your progress with us - I hope you will continue to post as you get each part done... that would be fun to see your progression.
I am working hard on getting these quilts quilted so i can join in on time with Sandy's mystery quilt.

Althea : I do not like paper piecing
I have to say it is not my favorite technique. I would much rather be doing strip piecing and have this quilt done! I am not a patient person and tend to be a high performer. This quilt is forcing me to slow down and take my time and that is probably a good lesson for me to learn. I did get one more block done tonight. Now I'm heading for bed. Saturday is another day.
That quit is going to be beautiful, Jeanine! I bought a paper-pieced double-wedding ring called Bali Wedding Star. It's just the paper pattern, though.

Jeanine - that is the way I feel - I did BOP by paper piecing and I have 2 more of her patterns that I bought that I will do - can not waste that money - lol and I love the look of them - the precision - I also do not like making the same piece over and over and over - guess that is why I like sampler quilts a lot...
Quilting has taught me a lot of patience though - one of the best lessons that it has taught me. I can't wait to see it as you go along.
The second block is finished.
Jeanine--
You're doing a wonderful job on this quilt. Love the progress reports. Continued success.
