what thread to use for home-machine quilting

I would like to start quilting on my home-machine and was wondering what would be the best thread

Marie,

They didn't suggest any thread weight the woman at the shop was just suprised that I use such a heavy weight. I told her I have been usng 50 weight thread for a while and have never had an issue...

Francine,

I would make sure you have a machine with quilting/darning foot, quilting needle and a machine where your feed dogs go all the way down. From that point I would try thirty weight but I have used 50wt quilting thread for machin quilting and have never had an issue.
