Hi Everyone,
I just found this website. I am learning quilting from the very beginning.I have been sewing since I was about 10 years old and make baby items and handbags. I just built a facebook page (check it out and Like me) for my recent stuff, but I really want to make a quilt. I would love to make a baby quilt. The one I want to make is a very simple block pattern but it will be nice to see if I can do it. I only have a very simple Kenmore sewing machine that I've had for 20 years but it works. I would LOVE to do free motion quilting but don't know how.
I'm so excited to join here so that I can learn from all of you experienced quliters. I'm really looking forward to meeting some new people and getting inspired. I would appreciate any tips for finding my way around the site and favorite places to shop.
Enjoy your evening.

Hi Lisa! Welcome to QCA. Can you drop the feed dogs on your Kenmore? Do you have a darning foot? If you said yes to both of those questions, then I believe you can learn to do free motion quilting on your machine. Others, is that right? Anyway, Lisa, head over to Groups and look for "Fear No More FMQers" to learn more about it.

Nancy you are right except if Lisa can not drop her feed dogs she can put tape over them.
Kenmores do have a drop feed system or did a hundred years ago when I was 16.
Welcome Lisa,
You will find lots of fun and knowledge in this bunch, so enjoy.

Hello and welcome Lisa.
I've looked at the items on your FB page. Very nice. I think you'll do just fine with quilting. Thanks for sharing.
I can drop the feed dogs but not sure if I have a darning foot or not. It's really weird, but I've been sewing for many years and I never really change the sewing foot. I really wish I new what all my attachments are for and how to use them. I get by pretty well without them but it sure would be nice to learn.
I am already amazed at the responses on this site. You guys are great! I am so glad I found QCA. I know I'm going to be addicted!
Lisa, the darning foot is an open toe foot so look for that in your attachments. Can you locate the manual, thats the magic question?
