Joan,

I truly like your quilt top.  Enough spark with the green and the richness of the brown.  This  is nice.

Joan L.:

Don't mean to hoard the water. Would love to send some of it your way. ............................

To everyone who needs water, I also wish we could send you some.  We are under a flood watch again tonight - 1 1/2" MORE rain predicted.  Snow predicted for tomorrow night !!  Weatherman says it probably won't stick (too much water on the ground !!)  Western New York farmers probably won't get many crops planted this year, --- unless it is RICE --- !!

We just got home today after a trip to our daughter's in Texas for 2 weeks and a long-way-around trip home through southern Georgia for our grandson's wedding.  It was hot  - an outdoor wedding in the sun - reception also in the sun.  (They are on the Georgia/Florida border so were below the Tornados and rain.) He is one of our 3 military grandsons and is leaving for California for six weeks more training on airplane maintenance.  Then the newlyweds will spend the next 3 or 4 years in Germany. His older brother is leaving for Iraq again in a few weeks.

The Gulf Coast is extremely dry, especially in Texas.  We saw smoke from the wild fires on our drive down.  Several grass and woods fires were in our daughter's county while we were there.  One took 2 or 3 days to contain.  The high winds, dry air, and high 90s didn't help.  I wish we could send down our excess rain - would help everyone!  Also we saw horrible tornado destruction on our way home yesterday in Tennessee. (Snow and ice then lots of rain at home the whole time we were gone while we were in the 90s with high winds and very low humidity. Not a cloud in sight for over 2 weeks until we got to the New York State line this noon - then the raindrops appeared.)

Tried to finish my MQ 4 while in Texas, but was sick the first week.  Then came Easter, the drive to Georgia and the wedding, then the drive home - vacation over.  Some day soon I will finish it and post a picture.  (I keep PROMISING --- )  Each quilt is so unique - such colors!  So beautiful. I am pleased with mine so far -  now to get it finished.  I have the border planned so may send first picture borders and all.  I planned to keep up with everyone, but life got in the way as usual.  (Speaking of life, the thumder just started rumbling and the rain has intensified!   Hope it stops soon or we really will flood!  This weather needs to be fair to all !!)

Joan, I love your quilt.  The greens are so bright and your border does look black on black to me too!  It truly makes a beautiful spring-summer quilt.
