"Stash"  is beautiful fabric that you have that is not being used for something at the moment.  I love my stash.  I love to get it out , one box at a time, and go through it--kinda like King Midas in the counting house, counting all his gold!!!

Hi, everyone in the stash pile~

I just joined today, so obviously I just saw these posts.  Somehow I thought all of you  might get a kick out of this little poem I saw in needle point in a quilt shop in northern Colorado. Enjoy!  :D

It is called:

                                                                                ODE TO A STASH

I love you, my elegant stash!
You're dearer than all the world's cash ~

I love to just hold you, and fondle, and fold you,
                                   And praise your distinctive pinache!

It took me years to have a stash. When I first started out I bought what I needed for a project. I would have some left over fabric, but not much.  I had more time than money to buy fabric. Now I have a closet full. I always bought on sale and when I would see something I liked not knowing what to do with it. Building a stash can be addicting.

I guess I always had a stash, but didn't use it for quilting.  I first grew up with fabric pieces all over from my mom's sewing, and since she always sewed my dresses for dances and whatnot, that stash pile just kept growing.  Then I got married and started sewing for me and my kids, and the stash kept building and building, and then I got into quilting, and the prognosis got worse! It has been diagnosed as malignant, and very terminal!   :D  But only to my great enjoyment, of course!

By the way, in the Denver area we get what is called the "Rocky Mountain Sew Expo" twice a year - which is actually set up by "Red Barn Enterprises".   It has a bunch of vendors, and teachers travel all over to give sewing classes on garments and quilting tools.  Sometimes Kay Wood comes.  It is here this week, and will return with a bunch of the same vendors in July.  There is even a company that sells DENTIST tools that they present for crafting and quilting enthusiasts!  They say that Red Barn does this all over the country, and I always look forward to ours.  Have any of you experienced this expo?  (just wondering...)

Helen, I have a friend who worked worked in a quilt shop for years.  When it closed she bought everything left, incluing the cutting table and shelving. She had a 30 x 40 quilt studio and now has what really looks like a quilt shop in her house. She has hundresd of yards of fabric. Works in another quilt shop now.  If a collection comes in she likes, she buys the bolts!! Wish I had that kinda of money. I imagine you have about as much as Connie in your sewing room, huh? I am in sewing room envy!!!
