Please remember it's only a geezer speaking.

Civil war fabric lines, and most civil war quilt talk baffles me. I see very little that I would consider relevant. I already said what I do earlier, and posted pic before but will here too. Example of my madness in reasoning:

There is a famous quilt and line of fabric called Aunt Josie's Log Cabin or something close. This quilt alleged to have been made about 1875, ten years after end of that sorry war. So making connection to my own life, ten years ago about I moved to AZ. Before that I lived in SC. So, if I made a quilt today, it might logically be expected to have some connection to my time in SC, a lot of connections, or maybe none at all.

In fact, as I went to the bottom of my scrap basket and refilled it a few times since then, I doubt I could come up with a piece I brought from SC, unless I tore something apart. So If I made the scrappiest quilt possible today it would have 0% to do with the fabrics I used in SC.

So there, I'm skeptical.

There is also much blatant nonsense written about Southern quilting, mostly by Yankee women, which causes me to have ungentelmanly outbursts, so it is a sore subject for me.

Please excuse me.

Any way I made the Southern Soldier quilt. Rules, I had to use what was on hand, no shopping, and with a pattern known to exist (nine patch), and try keep colors somewhat reasonable. This is it:
