recently I washed a piece of batting I thought only to find out that it was actually felt and that pilled.

Thank you, Ginny! I agree with both of your points, and it could be that quilt top had some poly blend in it.

Janet, I have had that happen if some of the polyester battings are used. Some of them tend to poke thru the fabric. It also happens if an all cotton fabric isn't used. Like a poly-cotton blend. Ginny

Hi Janet, it is nice to meet you. I have never had batting do this, but I have only used the all cotton Warm & Natural and the Quilters Dream - I prefer the Quilters Dream.

Has anyone had trouble with some battings that "pill up" through the quilt top? I had that happen and I think it was Fairfield batting but now can't remember. I hand-quilt my quilts.Just bought some all-cotton batting and I'm worried this may happen again. Thanks!
