A bias binding will work fine on this. I did a similiar runner once and used a 2 1/2 in bias binding. It is really no different when sewing than the regular binding. Just ease into the dips. Beautiful owls.

Re: Binding a kind of scalloped edge

KATHY :

Great Job!! Adorable. Would love to have this pattern.....)

Kathy, the pattern is Owls in the Round and is available as a download. The program is free with your first pattern purchase at www.myeqboutique.com

It's a stand alone program and you don't need EQ to use it. It's kind of nice because you can print the patterns at any size. This one is for a 30" round and I made it that size. My ONLY complaint with the pattern was it wanted to print 20 pages of pattern pieces. There are 8 owls, all using the same pattern. But the pattern wanted to print all pieces for all 8 owls. That was 18 eyes, 18 wings, 18 outer eyes etc. I had to spend some time deleting the extra pieces before printing.

Re: Binding a kind of scalloped edge

Great Job!! Adorable. Would love to have this pattern.....)

Re: Binding a kind of scalloped edge

Judy, Your owl tabletopper is a winner. Ginny

yes it does stretch, that's what you want on a curved edge, that's the reasoning behind the bias binding. you treat the single fold the same as the double fold, you just don't fold it in half first. it should be easier to work with on the curved edge.

Thanks Gini. I did go ahead and bind it with the double fold. I cut it on the bias. There wasn't much curved to this pattern so it worked well. I didn't even have to quilt, I appliqued through all layers and then did a decorative stitch down the seams. I think my granddaughter will like this for her home.
