The Fiesta was this last weekend, with 119 quilts. I did not take pictures of all of them, just some of my favorites. I'll put a number of different posts in the thread.

Here's the best of show quilt, titled October Aspens by Nancy Steidle of Santa Fe. It is hand appliqued with machine quilting, dimensional thread work and hand beading.

My sister Jody and four of her friends from Ute Park and Cimarron in northern NM visited the show and stayed with me. We had a blast. Here's a picture of Jody with one of her quilts.

Here's a picture of Jody's quilt that one second prize for machine applique. The picture isn't from the show. I thought I had one from the show, but it doesn't seem to be in the camera. It's titled "Slicing Oranges".

Two of our entries were hung together. (I think the person who did that knew we were sisters.) Here are Jody's "Who's Afraid of a Little Garter Snake" and my  "Aspens in Nambe".

Most of the pictures are just of the quilts. The one above shows how they were displayed.

Here are some of the more traditional pieced and appliqued quilts.

I'll post more pictures, but I need a break!

Judy~

Thanks for sharing. Those birch trees look so real you could touch them. Your sister is cute and I like her quilt, too. Very pretty and different. That looks like such a nice show. As I see more and more quilts, I look at my own and they look pretty sad in comparison to these.

Diane, you'll note that mine didn't win any awards. You should also keep in mind that most quilters don't make quilts for shows, but for cuddling, comfort, and to show care.

Anyway, here are more quilts:

These have a New Mexico theme.

Guadelupe by Narra Tsiagkouris of Los Alamos

Mores of the Southwest by Cindy Barfield. This won the Best Machine Quilting Award.

Milagro Seed Pod by Jennifer Day of Santa Fe, depicting a datura seed pod from her ranch.

Santuario de Chimayo by Mary Ann Onstott and Nicole Dunn. This is a whimsical folk art representation of the famous church.

Judy~

These are awesome! I can't believe the diversity. The southwest look is so different from what we see here. Beautiful showing of quilts. Thank you.
