HI,

I am interested n a lightweight machine for quilting group.  I have a Bernina 740 at home and don't want to damage it by carrying it to group.  Any suggestions?

all depends on the brand you want, but i've been looking at the pfaff passport 2.  Good luck with the choice .  happy quilting.

I have a Janome Gold 660 for classes. It is lightweight, about 12 lbs.  The little Janome does basic stitches and is great for learning. My home machine is Janome 6600 and weighs about 20 lbs. I'd rather not tote it to class.
