I've made 4 totes so far for Christmas gifts. 4, maybe 5 more to go. I want to finish before Bonnie Hunter's MQ starts next Friday.

Except for the sunflower tote, these are all blocks from various projects. Kris, you may remember the owl from the states block swap a few years ago.  Your Maine block is next to be made into a tote but I will keep it for myself. Also, recognize the tote in the foreground? It's one of your patterns in the paper piecing group you led a while back.

Judy what a great idea !  My daughter would love a bee sunflower and the rooster.

Oh my. Judy I just saw these today (really bad keeping up with the emails). I love them. Yes I recognise the block and thanks for the reminder about the state blocks. I can't even remember where I put mine. Time for a sewing room over haul.

Judy, great idea for using up orphan blocks.

I use some up making potholders and I've been wanting to make an quilt with orphan blocks one day. I'll have to add this to idea list!

Finished the totes. Here they all are, all made from existing blocks just gathering dust. (except the sunflower) Only one more gift for my granddaughter; a wall hanging. I hope to finish it this weekend. Our Christmas get together is the 18th.

Those are beautiful Judy. You had some awesome orphan blocks. The one with the lighthouse etc were paper-pieced weren't they? I think I remember you working on them.

Yes they are paper pieced. I picked up the book at the first oregon retreat. Like so often, I made a few blocks and set it aside

Judy, love each of the totes.  I'm sure the recipients will love them too.   Great way to use your orphan blocks.  I donated all mine to the Charity Group at our Quilt Guild so they can use them to make quilts for at risk kids.  I was amazed at how many I had & knew I'd never do anything with them,

Wow!! Wonderful. I loved it. Hope that I can make this with my old cloth materials. I was looking for recycling ideas and found some interesting tips (junk recycling), but I was stuck without any ideas. Thanks!! I have got something to make fun.
