Cathedral Windows...anyone make these?

Did you use the folded technique that Patti mentioned by Lynn Edwards?  I saw her demo that technique on Simply Quilts, and have been looking for that book ever since!  Thea--your pillow is Butterfly Beautiful!  Did you take the class on Lynn's technique?  It is amazing to watch her fold/stitch and expand the foundation base, then place her "window" fabrics and then tack  open the windows!  Great job ladies!

I'm not sure about all the different methods. In this one it's basically a square that is folded origami-style so all the corners fold to the middle, and then the new corners are folded to the middle again. The folded squares are joined at the flaps. There are pictures of it on this blog here and here.  I used a sewn method for the initial steps as shown here but I think it may have been easier to manipulate the folded square if it wasn't sewn in the first step.

Whoops! Still trying to figure out this website. I hit the 'preview' to preview my photo, but it posted. Duh. Anyway, this is a detail from my first quilt class in 2004; it's the Mexican Star. I didn't know I was doing a cathedral style technique on this, if that's what it is. The full quilt is 32" x32", and it's up on my wall. It's all quilted on a regular machine, which really hurt the arms and shoulders back then. But, I'm very proud of one of my very first finished quilts. I still can't get my posts to paragraph though.
