I buy all sorts of different quilting magazines and as I was looking at some tonight I thought I would like to know what the members here buy and read and what you have subscriptions for...

Which is your favorite and WHY!

Do you have one that is a favorite or do you just buy a lot to look at them.

Do you buy them to learn from their tutorials?

Do you buy them to get inspiration?

Thea

The only ones I still get are through my QCA subscription. I've yet to make a quilt from a magazine although I do get ideas that I've used. I especially like the tips and tutorials.

Thea, I love the Fons and Porter magazines, especially Quilting Quickly and Quilty. I also have fallen in love with the magazine BLOCK by Missouri Star. ... I buy others to look through, McCall's magazines and others but those three are my "go to" for patterns. I also get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and the Web.

My favorite magazine is "Quiltmaker". I enjoy their patterns and have made several. Next would be "McCall's Quilting". Their patterns are great inspiration. I've made one quilt from the magazine and adapted several others to projects I've made. I can't say about Fons & Porter's magazine; I've never seen one. My least favorite is "Quilter's Newsletter Magazine"; as someone else put it, I'm not into art quilts.

I really like how Block is done. It's more like a book. Love it.

I subscribed to "Irish Quilting for a while but it was very expensive. I like Primitive Quilts. I've let all my subscriptions run out for the other mags. They are all going too modern for me.

I subscribe to a lot of quilt magazines and like them for different reasons. My favorites:  I like Quiltmaker for the patterns, Love of Quilting for the tips they give, and Quilters Newsletter because it has a lot of reading in it, not just patterns.

Elaine Phillips:

Elaine  Australian Homespun has quilting and other projects. There is  usually have a BOM or something each year. I discovered them a few years ago through a stitch along. The first block was in the magazine and the rest free online. I have a digital subscription through Zinio.com

ericas.com sells individual issues. I believe you can get a paper subscription from completecraft.com.au

I think a paper sub would be expensive since it is an Australian magazine.

Thanks, kris, for that info. That's why I gave up Irish quilting, it was very expensive, coming from Ireland.
