Judy love your fabric.
Diane, the box in the middle is the first fabric boxes we made. The one on the left uses the same size square, the dart is made in a different place. The big one is a 12" sq. These are for my SS,
The blue ones are for me.
Have a nice and safe trip Donna. Where in Fl are you going?
Weezee - All so pretty! I'm sure your SS will love them :)
I've made a couple like the middle one myself but really like the one on the left. I'm slow on the uptake...where do you sew the dart on that one?
Still have a couple left to do as Christmas gifts...guess I'll have to play around with it to see if I can figure it out...as soon as I get these two quilt tops quilted that are Christmas gifts (then just one more to piece and quilt - a king size :o )
Weezee, all the boxes are so pretty, lucky SS. I've made a few square tissue size ones, good way way to decorate the night table or the bathroom.
I was almost done cutting my fabric for my DD baby who is due in just 2 weeks, 13th of August .She wants his newborn pictures taken with it so I am in a hurry. Well, I realized there were not enough border strips 1 short so off to store this AM so I can finish this up. My DD tends to deliver a week early so no more procrastinating. Her DH is a Miami Dolphins fan so it is a fleece baby blanket which is easy to make, thank goodness! Im getting excited for her and am looking forward to a new grandson to love and spoil. Susan
Diane I'll try to make a diagram of how I made it, I'll post it later.
Does anyone know the name of this pinwheel quilt or the name of the block? My DSD wants this one for Christmas - King Size! I thinking probably 8" finished blocks?? thanks in advance!
Great quilt Diane. I don't know the name of the block but 8 inch blocks will make a 96 x 112 quilt as it's shown on your picture. Maybe one or two more columns would be more of a king sized quilt? I don' t usually make this size quilt so It may be fine the way it is. Good luck with your project. I'm sure you will do a wonderful job.
I think it's called the double pinwheel . I also believe that McCalls quilting has the pattern for the block.
🌺 You know you are a quilter when the only scraps under your table are fabric.🐾
I know it as spinning pinwheel. It's a pattern easily changed in size. Mimi--with your figuring sounds like a queen so it needs a bit more width for king.
Agnes in NW Ontario
Thanks Mimi, Deb, and Agnes! I actually found it in EQ after I posted...duh!
If I make the blocks 7 1/2" finished with a 2 1/4" border...it should come out to 102x102 - fine for king size....also have to change the layout to 13 x 13 blocks. Guess I'm gonna make a huge dent in my scraps over the next couple of weeks! YAY!!!
Will love to see your quilt. That is one of my more favored block patterns.
I was working on my Vintage Tin quilt this afternoon when a neighbor stopped by. One of those delightful people who lives to criticize various neighbors for a missed weed, or heaven forbid, an unwashed car. I could go on.
She quilts a bit, not too much. She examined my star blocks and casually said, with one of those doggie-poo smiles, " Most of your points look good but a couple, well, I just would have had to re-do them. It's such a curse being a perfectionist". Ooookkkaay. I had a hard time keeping a straight face but replied with a casual "Yes, happily I'm definitely not so cursed".
I kind of wanted to say something like "Woman, your opinion is of such utter un-importance that I've already forgotten what you said". But knew I'm hate myself afterwards. She is what she is.
My points remain a bit off.
In the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
Judy -- My points are a little off sometimes -- if they match up, it's a happy accident -- but I love quilting and I know I will get better. Don't let this "delightful" neighbor ruin your fun!
Judy, sounds like a "lovely woman" she must do a lot of frogging. LOL
I have a finish in the July challenge got it done just in the knick of time. I seem to work better on a deadline. We had to post a book in the picture and since this was a MQ I chose a mystery book.
