Welcome, Kalina!  (love your name)

My grandmother started my quilting career with Sunbonnet Sue - teaching me how to blanket stitch around them on squares she was going to make a quilt with.  Hope you will post a picture when done.

Thanks.  I will post pictures.  I have stitched out a number of "trial" blocks to see how they look.  Anxious to start the quilt now.

Welcome Kalina.  I just started quilting last year.  What is a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt?

Hi Marianne.

Sunbonnet Sue is a country girl with a big sunbonnet hat.  You don't see her face.  Do you remember the Holly Hobby dolls from years ago.  She is kind of like that.  If you google sunbonnet sue you should be able to see some examples.  There is also a Suspender Sam version (a little boy, of course).  Sometimes he is called Fisherman Fred.

Basically her dress is one colour and her hat, sleeve and shoe are complimentary.  You use fusible web to put them on the background fabric then stitch around the edges.  You put borders around the squares then stitch together.  The squares are large, 10 inches and it takes about 35 for a twin size quilt.

Hope that info helps.

Thank you very much Kalina.

I will have to google that pattern.  I'm doing a twin size right now with applique right now.  Large flowers.  I'll post a picture when I'm done with it.
