I like using monofilament on special quilts, but I ALWAYS have issues with the thread unwinding while I sew and getting stuck underneath the spool, causing stretching and breaking. I took a square of batting about an inch larger than the base of my spool, cut a hole in the center, and placed it on the thread post under the spool, and it worked like a charm!

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try this next time I need mono-filament thread for a project.

That's a good tip. My machine came with those and I was told to always have it there. I wondered what it did.
