I'm new and just wanted to say hi. My mother did a lot of quilting and had a Gammill (basic model w/stitch regulator) long arm. She died early in November quite unexpectedly and left the Gammill to me. Needless to say, I have some decisions to make! I enjoy top quilting, but never really got into piecing. I look forward to talking with you and getting to know more about the world of quilting!
Welcome, Sarita. So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Enjoy your time here, and post often. This is a great place to be to learn about quilting and gain lots of inspiration. Again, welcome!

My sympathies for the loss of your mother - a hard thing to deal with. Your mother's quilting machine has led you to a wonderful group of quilters who will generously share their knowledge when simply asked. Enjoy
Hi Sarita - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Try something new with your piecing and you might find that you like to do a different type of piecing. Maybe paper piecing. Look forward to seeing some pictures of your quilts. Welcome to the group. You will love it here.
Georgetown CA I'd Rather Be Quilting
Welcome Sarita. Sorry about the loss of your mother. We are a very supportive group here, it's a good place to be.
I taught myself to quilt about 8 years ago. Don't be scared, but ask questions. If you enjoy doing the top quilting more, you might consider advertising with your local quilt shop and get paid to do this for others when you have time. i don't have a long arm, so I look for others that do. You can also upgrade your Mothers machine and do some really creative stitching.
I am very sorry about you losing your Mother. If you need to talk, we are all ears & hearts.
Thank you for the warm welcome!

Hi joy, welcome to the group.
Welcome Joy! This is a great group of people here. Unfortunately lots of technical difficulties, but the friendships I have developed have made it all worth it.
