After sewing my quilts on a $75.00 machine from Wal-mart - I've just purchased a Viking 875 Quilter - with a promotional package that came with the clear table and all the quilting feet! They are discontinued and my Joann store had the whole package for 1,695. I am a little overwhelmed by what it can do but also mighty thrilled, to say the least. Free classes should be of great help too! Better learn how to run this baby and get back to finishing Mystery Quilt 9!! Woohoo!!!!! :-)

congratulations Linda.  Sounds like you got a very good deal.   After the Wal-mart machine, you will have fun with all the things your  new machine will do.

I didn't even know that Joann carried Viking.  Have lots of fun quilting on your new machine!  What are you going to tackle first?

Let me tell you -I have been playing on the Sapphire 875 Quilter today and here it is in a nutshell:

I feel like I just moved from the Flintstone's cave to the Jetson's high rise!!! Working on piecing the back to my Mystery quilt 9 but I am so enthralled with the automatic thread cutter - I am wanting to press that button every 2 inches!!"!! Ahahaha.

After MQ9 is finished, I have material for a queen-sized quilt for my daughter waiting in the wings - and the son wants one too --  so me and old 875 Q will be having lots of quality time together in the coming months. What a joy to be sewing on such a lovely machine!!

Linda have fun with your new machine. I have the Sapphire 835. I love my machine, but no auto thread cutter, one day maybe I can upgrade.

Here it's not JoAnn's that sells them but a vendor set up inside the store.

Yes Kris - that's right. It is a separate vendor within my Joann's too. A few of the smaller stores don't have them. They sell Singers but not the Vikings. This store I went to sells both types of machines from that one vendor. They also give free classes to teach you the fine points of running your machine. I am taking my first one a week from Tuesday. Although I am managing to teach myself the basics from the instructions - I really want to learn all that this machine can do.
