gini:

we use the same tires year round.

Gini, we used to do that too...until we moved to the Methow.  Our road dictated a more "serious" solution...lol!

Well I have to say we use winter tires  in winter.

as for the retreat, I would love to go  if it is the third week in Sept. As I said earlier, we have a wedding in the Maritimes at the beginning of the month.  I guess if it's not this year, I will go next year. There is so much to plan!

CC you always have the right comment! I wish I had you talent with words!  My words come out more on the boring side.

I just wish I had an edit key for my mouth... so many times I wish I could take back what has tumbled from my lips!

So Vivian, my dear,  is this the old husband or did you pick up anew one whilst you were gone?   Great to have you back.

Ha, ha, I wondered the same thing but didn't know if it was politically correct to ask.  Leave it to Gini and Nana!   So Vivian?......

WHew... I've had a busy morning on the phone.

1st off: I had an e-mail from the LQS in Choteau announcing that they are closing their Brick and Mortar store by the end of the year. She's going to do on-line sales only from now on. So, Any shopping we want to do will have to be a road trip to Great Falls (55 miles), There are 3 quilt shops in Great falls, plus a Joanns.  Check out the Quilting Hen in Carter on line.  We could hit all of them in one trip, easily.

Dh checked and the community center in Choteau is currently available for  both the 2nd and 3rd week in Sept.  They do have cooking facilities and tables we can use. They charge $100  per day Mon -Thurs, and $150 a day Fri-Sun.

The Stage Stop Inn is building a new convention center on site, and it  too is available for both the 2nd and 3rd week in Sept. They have a caters kitchen we can use, but right now they only offer a microwave and no stove. That may change with the renovation.  Right now the con center rents for $100 a day, but they are going to do a promo when the new addition is opened and we might be able to book it at a lower rate then. Currently they do not charge a deposit on it, but that to may also change. She's checking and will get back to me on that.  She's also checking to see if there's a rate change for using the new facilities.

They are happy to set aside a block of rooms for us. The rooms have either  1 king bed or 2 queens. Rates are based on occupancy are: $65 for single/double. $70 for 3 and $75 for 4  people. Plus tax.  Breakfast is included, as well as the pool and hot tub. All rooms are handicapped accessible.\

There are two other hotels in Choteau, but neither has a very good reputation. I'm guessing they are cheaper,  both have rooms only, no extras, and we've still have to either get the convention center or the civic center.

I did a rough calculation.  If we have 12 people, and sleeping 3 to a room and  splint the cost of the main room,  it will come out to about $158 apiece (plus meals and bed tax) for 5 days. I can't see doing this unless we have at least that many people signed up for sure. Anything less and the cost wouldn't be worth it.

So, There are the facts as I have them.  Share your thoughts.
