So...I would like make a couple of rug mugs for an exchange I'm in. But I don't know what to use for batting, if any.
For those that make them frequently...any suggestions?
I use a thin cotton batting, figuring it will help absorb condensation or spills. The last I used was Hobbs, but any thin cotton will work. Some people also use doubled flannel inside, but I haven't tried that.
I have tried flannel as batting but personally don't like it nearly as well as Hobbs Heirloom, which is my batting of choice. I don't wash the batting for quilts but I will pre-wash the cut off and leftover chunks to shrink for tableware.
I use insul-brite for the batting. That way it can double as a hotpad...
