What a nice group of quilters here! I have already joined two swaps and have been reading the message boards avidly.
I am not new to quilting, but perhaps new to quilting "right." My great grandmother taught me to quilt. She was of the school that you don't buy fabric to make a quilt, the point of a quilt is to use up scraps. Her daughters (all 4 of them) ran a drapery shop in the 60s and 70s. So most of her quilts are made of polyester drapery fabric :) Some are not that pretty, but dang if they won't last forever!
I have made a few quilts and wall hanging. Nothing too exciting :) pin wheels and samplers. Right now I am working on a charm quilt (or begging quilt which is a better name since I am begging anyone I know with fabric for 4 x 4 pieces!) It is just a nine patch of 3 x 3 squares. I have done pretty well collecting my squares, except purple. Purple seems to be the hardest scrap to come by :) Here's a work in progress pic:
Welcome to the group. I like your charm quilt.
Hi and welcome! I also like your charm quilt. I'll tell you why purple is so scarce, Nana and a few others bought it all up! Enjoy yourself here.
