I've been sewing since I was about 12, and didn't do alot when my kids were growing up since I was a single mom with 2 kids, working full time as a school principal, etc....I got re-married and retired just over 4 years ago, and decided I wanted to get back into sewing, but didn't want to make clothes (why make them when you can get 30% off at Kohl's?) I took my first quilting class, and got hooked!  I recently finished a queen sized lone star that I gave to my oldest daughter for her wedding.  Now I'm working on a king for my youngest who is getting married in June.  As soon as I finish the top, I'll alternate working on quilting it with creating a top for my step-son who is getting married in May!  Hopefully in a couple years I'll have the same onslaught of baby quilts!  I love hearing about what others are doing and getting ideas.  I'll be posting those quilt tops and asking for quilting ideas.  I do all machine quilting on my Elna.  Love that machine!  Looking forward to talking with others on this site!

Hi Patty:

I am also from the Lehigh Valley, I live in Macungie. I love quilting. Let me know where you live, maybe we can get together one day. I have a Baby Lock Symphony and have not tried machine quilting.  I am thinking of taking a class in Pottstown next month.

My sister in law lives in Macungie!  We live in Bangor.  I have taken lots of classes at Pcono Sew and Vac in Stroudsburg, and that's where I bought my machine.  I have an Elna Quilting Queen.  I traded in my old Bernina, which I loved, but it had a small neck and couldn't do anything fancy because of it's age.  I just love machine quilting!  The teacher up at pocono is outstanding and is constantly offering more classes, so I keep learning new things and progressing.  If you are considering it...DO IT!  You'll love it!

Welcome Patty,  I love that area of Pa.  Had an aunt and uncle who lived in Stroudsburg.  I would stop and see them every year when I travelled between NY and TN.

Hope you will join us often and ask questions when you need help.  We enjoy sharing our love of quilting.
