I need to recover my design wall - it is 7 1/2  feet x 6 feet. The closest fabric shop (50 mile round trip) has some 90" wide fabric on sale for $2.99 a yard.  Wouldn't take but 2 yards to cover it.   does felt hold better worse or the same compaired to flannel ?

Hi. I don't how I ended up suggesting an answer yesterday; My pc froze up and then I had troubles getting back here! Oh well..

Anyway- I've never used felt, I just use a king size flannel sheet that I can move around as needed.  Good luck with whatever you choose.

I have never used flannel... on my first design wall, I used the felt and it has worked great!

I have felt on mine and it works pretty well.  sometimes a block with lots of seams will fall, but for the most part things stick.  I've never used flannel.  Some people also have used batting, but I haven't done that either...good luck!

Felt, flannel, batting--I've used all three and can't recommend one over the other. Quite by accident I discovered if I have a sticking issue a light spray of quilting/layering adhesive is the answer.
