Now that I have all my squares cut, I find that I could have done strip HST...wish that had been noted in the first set of directions.

Got so many projects and obligations right now, not to mention getting reading for the Oregon Retreat, that these may come with me.  I'll try to work on the HST's a little at a time, while continuing work on the RR and Marge's quilt, and TaeKwonDo and football for the grandsons.

Need to check "discussion" page for complete instructions for step 2.  I'm still not sure about cutting instructions from step 1 - where do you use the 3 1/2" squares vs. the 3 7/8" squares?

MTAnn   You will use two different colored fabric cut 3 7/8. They will be sewn together and cut in half to make HST (half square triangles) they will measure 3 1/2 " when finished. so when you put them together with the 3 1/2" squares they will make your block. Dotted line = sew line solid line cut line.

I hope this helps.

So the BG/F1 is 168 of the 3 7/8" squares to get 336  HST 3 1/2"; then 42 of the BG/F2 3 7/8"  for 84 HST 3 1/2"; and 42 of F1/F2  3 7/8"  for 84 HST  3 1/2:...is that correct?  We aren't using the cut 3 1/2" squares at this point?

Woohoo, Deb!  Gotta love HSTs!   (I just completed over 500 of them for the fall swap.)

Pat, your idea to do a lap quilt was good. I did not want to buy any fabric for something that I really did not need. As I was going thought my fabric to do the 2" stamp exchange I came upon enough fabric and the right colors to get into this MQ9. So, I will do my best to catch up with you all tomorrow. I found I had a cream, a light green and a dark green just wanting to be used up. I think I bought most of that when Walmart had first decided to take fabric out of the stores and I got a good deal on it. It will work for me.

Thanks for clearing that up, I was equally confused about which squares to use.  Also, to all the other posters who let me know I wasn't alone(LOL) on not being finished with previous mystery quilts!! I am almost finished adding the borders to the MQ7 which I hope to get done in the next couple weeks! However, all summer every time I've set a goal for myself they have been displaced by grandkids---my joy, not a complaint!! Working to finish up a quilt for my granddaughter for her new "big girl" bed!! So, I guess I'll squeeze in working on the MQ9 while piecing her top. You all have no idea what a comfort it is to know I'm not the only one dragging along on getting finished with the mystery quilt!  Happy sewing everyone!! :-)
