Hi everyone, To all that have excess to Easy Quilts magazine, Summer 2014. Go to page 10 and look at the top left picture. It is the retirement quilt I posted in my gallery. I was so shocked to see it in the magazine. I hope everyone has a safe St. Patty's  day.

HAPPY ST PATRICK"S DAY!!!

Congratulations, Weezee.  How exciting to have your work in a magazine!!

We have horizontal snow "falling" this AM (It's not really falling, just blowing past). My red board fence is disguised as a white picket fence.

There was an owl in our tree last night. It called for about an hour. 'Poor bird sounded lonely.

Been working on some jewelry designs this week and not doing much sewing. Today I need to get back to my machine and work on the commissioned quilt.

Quilters are people who strip so they won't go topless.

Happy St. Paddy's Day to you all. As soon as I get dressed, I'll find something green to wear, don't want to be pinched. LOL

Thanks for the reminder Bonia. I'm going to lunch with friends today and completely forgot we're all supposed to wear green. I don't have much green except for one quilting T shirt that I bought at Sew Expo last month.

It sounds like your owl was cold versus just being lonely. He needed someone to snuggle with.

QCA Admin:

The thread What Are You Up to Today? #8 was getting too long. Please continue your conversation here.

The original thread was started by Spudgrandma back on August 19, 2009.

Thanks,

I purchased the melindas heart it is a bargello parttern

I have sewed all of the colors of the strips together and now I am ready to throw all of it in the trash because the directions are horrible.

I tried contacting the person Heidi Farmer who wrote the pattern but NO luck.

Has anyone ever made this quilt and is so can you email me to let me know how you did with it.

I hate to throw all o0f that fabric away.

It is a beautiful quilt.

I have made a barbell Heart with no problem but this pattern is very poorly written

HELP

Thanks dolores

Try contacting Patti or Cindy Jane through the Bargello Group here on QCA...they have both completed that pattern (wish I had the pattern :(  ).

I'm looking for a new cutting mat.  Do "self healing" mats really work?

Kath, my last one lasted for quite a few years before I replaced it last year with a new one. It gets daily use. If I look at it carefully, in full light I can see teeny marks from my rotary cutter. I expect it to last me for years.

Hi kath,  only if you are using a sharp cutter and aren't pressing too hard, then they hardly get any wear at all. I've had a couple of Olaf mats for decades Most of the mats last a long time if you take care

I have two cutting mats that are not self healing and after 5 years of use they have ridges along the cutting lines I use the most often.  I think I am pressing too hard, but it seems like when I run the rotary cutter I have maybe 3 or 4 tags in a WOF that keep it together and have to "saw" to make sure those get cut too.  I have changed blades on my cutter.  I was wondering if the roughness of the mat was the problem.

I probably am pressing the cutter too hard.  It is a good Olfa cutter.
