This was my sisters Christmas cactus she had for years.  When she passed I took it home and nurtured it and this was my reward earlier this month.

Marie, that's a beautiful Cactus. After mine stops blooming I think I need to repot it.

Thank you for the pic Marie. My Christmas cactus didn't bloom this year, so I'm glad you shared yours.

My Christmas cactus usually blooms at Easter!

Have 2 blooms and 4 buds this year....

As for the topic of this thread....what are you up to today?....well, didn't get my sewing projects done for Christmas....machine decided to stop picking up the bobbin thread! I did make Christmas wreaths from rolled book pages and sparkle balls (clear solo cups and lights) made, but none of the stitching projects AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Bonita, mine needs repotting as well but I'm scared to death because I'm not sure how to do it without causing it damage .  It has to be at least 15 years old, my sister had a knack with plants, me not so much.  Any advice?

CC, you are welcome.  When it was in my sisters hands, it was twice as big and bloomed at Christmas and Easter.  I've been getting a few blooms at Easter time.

I got mine last year with no blooms and this is the first two blooms so far and it's in small pot. So I'm up for some advice too.

Just to let you know, the cactus has to be pot bound to flower.  My mom had one that my cousin now has.  It is now 63 years old.  The main stem is like a small tree but it blossoms beautifully every year.  My hens  and chicks cactus are in a pot outside and finally started flowering last year when it got pot bound.  Just a thought.

Patti, y"all look so comfy sitting there, and you can't ever deny your sister. You 2 look so much alike, except for the hair color.  Glad you got to Skype with your daughter.   Ginny

That's my experience, too.  My 30+ year old cactuses love living in my 4-season-porch which is kept cool and receives indirect north light.  One blooms profusely at Thanksgiving (coral color) and the other at Christmas (traditional pinkish-red).

I will say that these are messy plants, and since they share the room with my mid-arm frame, this holiday was their last.  I couldn't find anyone to adopt my huge potted plants, so they went to the great outdoors and I am now houseplant free.
