Agnes:

gini:

I don't have that much self control

I'll join your club and fit right in. Lately I've received compliments from several people after I have spoken up. If I had thought about it first I would never have spoken up and joined the "too afraid to express myself" club that seems to be very dominant in the circles I frequent. As a result there is serious senior bullying happening. I'm beginning to think it is every bit as prevalent as the kid's bullying that hits the media.

Agnes,

Do you mean seniors bullying other seniors or the younger generations bullying seniors?

I mean seniors bullying seniors. Strong controlling personalities seem to get stronger and sometimes more vindictive. There is a lot I could say on the subject but I better keep it to myself.

Quiltless love the pic , and yes I too can say I've learned to be quiet rather than talk alot and have others condemn the way I think.

I agree with your observation, Agnes.

I find that rather than be confrontive, I retreat.  My world is getting smaller and smaller.

What makes it even more surprising is I spent my career battling other people's battles.  I know how to be strong and "in your face" when I need to -- for others -- but cringe on doing it for myself.  I just hate the drama and the emotional salad left in the aftermath.

Emotional salad? That's a new one.

Me...I'm forever Pi$$ing good folks off without ever intending to. My Dh used to call me the "queen of Blurt."  My brother jokes that we come from a family of contortionists... we can all insert our foot in our mouth while our head up our....   It's a talent.

Lesley, I love your table runner, love the colors!  After the initial shock of learning your job was no longer, I pray you'll realize how exciting a new start can be.  The future is open to you now, good luck and God Bless!

gini:
what would we do without relatives.

Good question, Gini!  Wouldn't it be boring without them would be my question!  Last year was our big blowout, this year was peaceful, Thank God!

Agnes, my DMIL whom I miss very much used to say that older people tend to lose confidence in their judgment as things move faster and faster, and they second guess their own judgment.

I have to agree as I see it in my own Mom bullying my Dad. She criticizes if he sleeps in his chair, or when he walks around or when he wants to do things. We all had to tell her to stop. It really upsets me as Dad is such a kind person, with strong opinion and values but kind. In two weeks he will be 98 and mom still finds ways to b#*€£h. I sometimes feels she works very hard at being unhappy and miserable. We her children can never do things that are good enough...except DB2. Yep he is the golden child out of 7. Well I find it impossible to keep quiet when I see that form of bullying happening.
