Didn't work on a quilt today (yet), but went to Lancaster Co, PA for a FART - long but fun day and some GREAT buys!  But now I have a question that maybe some of you experienced quilters can help me with....(yeah, another one!)....

Picked up a pattern (and fabric) for a quilt that finishes at 72 x 72 and is made from 15" blocks...I really don't need it that big...will EQ help scale it down to smaller blocks so I know what size to cut the pieces??  I think I remember hearing that you can "try it before you buy it" (EQ) so may give that a whirl if it will help me do this.

Thanks in advance for any insight...

Karla--Love your block. I always enjoy that star block but I have always been very regimental in the color placement. Love the scrappy look of yours, yet it stays within a color theme. Can't wait to see more blocks.

Karla, I don't kknow why these posts are not showing up.  I have a new keyboard and I'm not used to it yet.  I wonder if I am hitting something I should be hitting.  anyway what I wanted to to tell you is how beautiful your lone star block is.  It is absolutely lovely.  I love the colors and the scrappinest of it.  Can't wait to see the finished product.

Vivian I also love your quilt.  I am thinking of doing something similar for baby quilt.

Scrappy is a good way to use up a lot of different fabrics.  After I finally figured out the pattern (17 different fabrics, changed that in a hurry)  it went together very quick. I'll make another

OK - I can't seem to find a free trial download of EQ...any other ideas how to modify block sizes to reduce the size of the quilt??

Didash. Divide your current size block, 15", by whatever size you want it to be. If you want 12" blocks. Divide 15 /12 = 125% reduction. Put the pieces on your scanner and set it to reduce 125%

Or you could take the block pattern pieces down to a copy store and ask them to reduce them by 125%

To answer your original question, Yes EQ does change block sizes very easily. I use it for that purpose constantly.

Amazing the difference color makes. One is gold and the other a purple floral. Both are from the same line Love both. I'll be happier when they are quilted and gone!!

I actually quilted the one for my boss' retirement.  First bigger than a table topper I've done.  so proud I finally did it but. I'm not thru yet.  Haven't figured out what to do in the borders.  wow, writing that just gave me an idea.  also, made my binding.

Your quilts are beautiful.  The colors are so rich and full looking.  Plus, your view of the outdoors is inspiring as well.
