I actually did work on a quilt today. I finished the first block for The Loyal Union Soldier quilt and have another half done. I need to rest my fingers for a while - - my fingers haven't done much hand sewing lately and are sore. They need to toughen up for me to piece with my usual speed.
Rich came through his hip replacement surgery well this morning. I only had 2 1/2 hours sleep last night (actually this morning). Was up until midnight getting caught up on a few things and Rich woke up at 2:30 this morning and just had to talk!!!! We had to leave for the hospital at 4:30 this morning because we are so far away. He had to be there by 6:00 AM. The hospital doors we were to go in were still closed when we got there! 2 other people and the 2 of us waited in the cold until someone finally came to unlock the doors! I stayed with him after his surgery until 1:30 this afternoon, but he was so sleepy I decided he needed his rest and I had 50 miles to drive home before I could do the same! My knees and back were so painful by the time I got to the car I decided that I really DID need to get home. I am sitting with my feet up now with my laptop on top of the quilt blocks I am working on. Maybe I will get a few more done tonight. Tomorrow I stay home because he has a list of people who are visiting him including his mother and I need to try to put together MQ 9 and do more housework.

Marsha-SM:Rich came through his hip replacement surgery well this morning.
So glad to hear Rich's surgery went well. I hope you can get some rest.
Doing some press'n'sew. Flannels I bought some time ago. Having issues with my iPad so some of my posts may be odder than normal
I know, I know. Pictures upside down. At least they posted!! Got the fabric at a guild garage sale and made enough blocks for two lap quilts. Probably for Christmas, min just have to find smashing and cornerstones. I have a stack of flannel left for another, simpler quilt.
So glad to hear that Rich came through his surgery well. Now don't try to tackle too much and wear yourself out before he gets home and you are playing nurse. Ginny
Geez Vivian, pictures upside down and double posts and smashing? Haha. Good to hear from you. So when are you going to get a retreat going in Canada?
Brigit-Darol. I like your 4 piece.
Marsha, I am glad Rich's surgery went well.
I am a happy camper. Didn't get to sew as much as I would have liked this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday visited different friends. It was fun but the pressure is on to finish the wedding quilt.
Today it is going well. Made some big adjustments to the design of the wedding quilt. I wasn't happy with the way it was coming out at the retreat. Glad I waited until I could play with EQ5. I still may have to make some adjustments in the border. Not sure if I have enough fabric to miter my border fabric. May have to design some corner blocks.
Debbie:Kelley - those are so cute. what's the block called?
Thanks Debbie.. the pattern is called pin curls, by Me and My Sister Designs
I can have a Canadian retreat set up in about an hour. Beautiful hall down the road, beds for two in my house (more if you share!) lots of room for cots. Let me know!!
Yes, I did. I assembled a Split 9 patch from the red/white/black charm swap a while back...Here's a pic but still have to back and quilt it and maybe add a border as it is pretty small.
Also made a trip to the LQS and picked up some batting and fabric for the back of this quilt and the Round Robin I'm working on. I think I've decided on the border I'm going to make, at least I've got it narrowed down to 2 possibilities
That turned out nicely! Good work...
Karla I like your quilt, those are some of my favorite colors.
I got my MQ9 row sewed together today. Now to decide if I will add borders or not.
