When I get to the quilting part of the process I surround my sewing machine cabinet with tables, you can barely walk through there. You don't want a larger quilt to hang over anywhere or it really drags you down. I also use a Supreme Slider. It is a sheet of vinyl like stuff that is very slippery. It goes under the needle area of your sewing machine, there is a whole where the needle goes through. Anyway it helps the quilt to slide better. They are kind of pricey but well worth it. I tried a cheaper brand and it just doesn't work as well, IMHO.  And I always use quilting gloves as they help me to grip the quilt without clinching my hands. Take frequent breaks so you can relax your neck and back. And last, if you have a cat make sure he/she is not napping somewhere in the quilt or it will be verrrry difficult to move. LOL, the voice of experience..

Yes, thank you all very much for your help.  I didn't realize I would get so many emails especially on my phone.

Thank you Carolyn for the tips.  I do keep the heavy part of the quilt on the table and even throw part of it over my shoulder which I saw on a video.  I use cheap garden gloves with the rubber on the back but maybe I will use my coupon and get the real ones.

Thanks Pat for your tips also.  I don't have room for more tables as my sewing area is next to a spare bed.  This room I call the room of doom because it is a multiple purpose room, spare bedroom when my daughter comes with my DGKs and a storage room & part laundry area and sewing room.  I do have some space behind the machine to lay the bulk of the quilt.  I didn't think about the slip thing I did see that at the Viking section of JoAnne's where I purchased my machine.  I will check that out next time I get over that way.  I will keep playing around with it all.

I got the Dallas Cowboy quilt done. There was some white star's on the sides and I decided to cover it with some extra blue fabric.

got all my B/W stars done and now only have 2 R/W hearts to finish.  also worked on RR2 border some.  feel like I made some progress today.  also, making cut off a table runner from the leftovers of the B/W stars (the triangle pieces cut off make a 5" HST and making them into pinwheel table runner.)

Zoetc the Cowboys quilt hanging turned out really cute.  Makes me want to do one in Ravens.  If only I had more time or less UFO's.  Nice job.
