Carolyn

I like red so I would go for it.   If you don't like the red then definitely a beige will work.

Beautiful christmas quilt.  Not sur how I'd quilt it, but I like the other sugestion of snowflakes.

I worked on  my second version like the one i call maddi' quilt but I really changed it up and the top somehow has grown to be like kingsize now i'm deciding on the backing for it,  probably just using white solid because i have it available, but i wish it were yellow.

Carolyn, your quilt is beautiful. I almost said ginormous... As it does look huge! I love the colors and it will be a beautiful Christmas quilt. As for the quilting part... I don't have any idea yet. I think the snowflakes is a great idea, but like you said living with it for a few days will give you a feel as to the best quilting to do on it.

Wow, Carolyn, that is unique pattern!  It's stunning!  Did you design it?

Hmmm, background... how about one of the golden beige fabrics that has a bit of red in it?

Carolyn, your quilt is soooo pretty!  I like the idea of snowflakes, too. If you go with the red back you could use white thread in the bobbin for the snowflakes to show up really well.

Carolyn - Really love your quilt top. I think the Red for the backing would look great.

Carolyn, I absolutely love this pattern and your colors!  I don't think I've seen it done like this before. Love it!!  Love it!  I also like the idea of the snowflakes. I did those on a Christmas quilt for a friend and she says that's her favorite designs on the quilt. I do it free hand as when I try to mark a quilt I always change my mind so now I'm jus lt free hand, free motion. Maybe I can make an abbreviation for that one? FHFM??  I also did holly leaves on that quilt in the areas between the snowflakes, a few Christmas trees and loops to connect everyone. Did I tell u how much I love ur quilt?

Thanks very much for all the comments. You all are the best.  It sounds like several others like the red as well and I already have the fabric ordered so maybe I'll go with that. I like the idea of the white bobbin thread to make the snowflakes pop on the back. Also like the idea of holly leaves interspersed with the snowflakes. I'm also a free-hand meander sort of girl.  Nancy, it was not my design. The pattern was in easy quilts a couple issues ago. It caught my eye because if the beautiful blue/ green /purple solids she used. And then of course I changed the colors. Go figure.  :)

Carolyn, do you remember the name of the pattern? I'm going to look through the back issues and see if I can find it! I love your colors!

Roxana, I think it was sparkle sparkle or something like that. I can verify that (as well as the edition if the magazine) when I get home if you can't find it. It was within tyke last year I think.

You know what?  Perfection is very time consuming.  Learned a trick to make my diamonds match perfectly, but it's taking forever.  Maybe with a little practice.
