ls2016, your ability to design pictures and patterns made from log cabins and courthouse steps continues to amaze me!

Agnes I love your stars. May I ask how big your blocks are? Another IAEA simmering here.

Angele--The stars are 8" finished. I thought because of the limited yardage per piece when cutting apart shirts I would have less waste and get better use of the fabric than if I had made them 10" which was my first thought. The flying geese squares therefore were 5.25" for the large square and 2 7/8" for the smaller squares. Center block was 4.5" cutting measurement.

Agnes, you have done a lovely job.  I am going to be doing a silk tie quilt for my cousin.  She has collected these ties for years.  I have already decided to fuse muslin to each tie to insure the integrity as well as make them easier to sew together.  I can tell you 20 years of experience would sure be great right now but it will have to be toward building my own experience.

After spending the entire day yesterday in the heat viewing all of the classic cars at Hot August Nights in Reno, today I'm going to sew.  My 14 year old grandson wants to make a quilt, so I guess it is going to be a teaching day.  He's already raided my stash and picked his fabrics, but he is so impatient that I'm not sure quilting is for him, but we'll give it a try.

It's times like this that I'm glad I have several sewing machines...we can sew together, side by side if his grandfather doesn't keep giving him a bad time about it being a female thing and suggesting he make himself an apron.  I'm going to smack grandpa right upside the head in a minute.

I love it too, Sukochi, but I always spend too much money at the various vendors.  The cars were awesome, as usual, and the weather was hot, hot, hot!  I guess that is why they call it Hot August Nights.
