No family/friends here. Just us. No parade, no fireworks, no bands playing in the square. Rains have canceled all of that.

When I stuck my head out the door this a.m. I heard this deep noise, then a crash of metal. A tree fell too close. Got on my flip flops (Frances, do you have flip flops there?), and went looking but didn't find the source. Maybe behind us. Will check on the people next door here in a minute.

HAPPY 4TH of July ever'body!

Thank you Frances!  Today we will go to a friend's home to celebrate with a barbecue.  No fire works allowed here as it is too dry.  A spark could set off a wildfire.

Today, is just a day of relaxing for me!  didn't make any plans with the kids, and may not even go see fireworks tonight.  just tired and want to relax.  did see where veterans can get into see "White House Down" movie today for free, so will try that later.   may go up to the casino, we get free play $ since a veteran and i's the 4th.  usually walk away with a little money.  haven't been any this year, as we missed getting the free calendar with $10 free play each month.

and I've got a border to put on a Twist and Stitch pinwheel quilt.  put on the border than try out the ruler and see how it works.  too many ideas, not enough time!

Happy Independence Day,

thanks for asking frances. Today we start out with a parade.  We sit on the curb with a huge bunch of family and friends, no kids today, my aunt has recruited them to ride on a float.  Then we migrate to another aunt's house for the picnic, grilled burgers and brauts, then home to prepare our own picnic for the fireworks.  We go to the city beach about 6 PM and stake out our spot with a blanket, share our vittles with whoever stops by, watch the kiddies swim, then settle back at dusk to watch a half hour of fireworks over the lake, with 5000 or so of our  fellow sandpointians.  The streets are closed in town and it takes 5 minutes to walk back to the car, and home.  Here we will find our neighbors putting on another fireworks show on the beach, so we drag the lawn chairs down there and watch more sparklies.

Hope everyone had a happy Independence day.  I spent the day at my DD's and DSIL's home along with my DS, his Fiance and her parents.  Lots of food and swimming in their pool.  Without the pool we'd've melted the humidity was so high.  Now back home in my air-conditioned home thanking God for all my blessings given to me in part by all the veterans and those who gave their lives for our country.  THANK YOU!  GOD BLESS ONE AND ALL!

Today has been a quiet day.  Cleaning lady came this morning.  I am hand sewing a binding.  Rain most of the day.  I got up with a bad hip that was screaming so did two Aleve and heating pad.  Feeling better.  DH is recuperating from yesterday s chemo.  He gets insomnia so he did not sleep much last night.

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VETERANS

It rained the whole day in Kentucky.  I did not leave the house.  I worked on a quilt!! And played card games with the family.  An "indoor" cook *out* for dinner.  God bless the USA!!

I love the 4th of July -- my favorite holiday.  I'm all kinds of red, white and blue.  When I was a kid living in small town USA, we had parades down Main Street and I was in them in one patriotic costume or another.  I got this from my Dad.  He was a WWII veteran and a Korean War veteran.  God, Family and Country -- the three great loyalties.   Happy Birthday USA!

I spent the afternoon at my son's house with grandaughters and watching their kiddos swim in the pool. I pooped out before fireworks and came home. It was a good day. God Bless the USA!

Hope everyone had a great 4th.  We did a smoked pork butt and mac n cheese for dinner.  DD and DSIL and grands came to the house and swam and ate with us.  Then Lewis and I watched the program from DC with all the gorgeous fireworks and music.  We could hear the fireworks here at the same time.   We had rain off and on all day but managed to have some sunny humid periods.

Well thank you Frances. I though that was so sweet of you. I was hoping to go to my sister's house today, but my DH had other plans. Yesterday he was going to town in my car. The trip involves a 2 lane road down to a canyon and back up the other side of the canyon on the edge of the mountain. Well a rock fell and having swerved to miss it, he it the side of the mountain and hit the rock anyway. He ended up snapping the tie rod so now he has to replace the entire rack and pinion steering. Every time I let him use my car, he does something to hurt it. Needless to say, we did not go anywhere and did not have a bar-b-que. Although I did grill a burger for my DH. It was 102 her today. It is not supposed to be that hot in the mountains. What's with that. Needless to say, I was not about to go to the valley in my DH truck. No air condition or any other creature comforts in his truck, like seat belts. I loved reading about everyone else's great 4th. At least I got to celebrate in my nice comfortable air condition house and got to be with my DH for the day. Again, HAPPY 4TH everyone.
