I have that magnetic bowl from harbor freight also. Love it. I tend to drop pins all the time and that helps. I also have a long magnet Lin got me from harbor freight that. Looks like a long screwdriver. Picks up those ones that roll under the desk.

I will have to see if I can find one of those. I hope they would have something like that at Lowes or Home Depot. The only Harbor Freight is half way to Atlanta from here!  :{

I have not seen those but i took a pretty saucer thaat curved up at the outside and glued some very strong magnets from the hardware store to the bottom. it holds the pins well. it will probably break if i drop it but it looks pretty.

Well, Mimi, the shipping would, no doubt, cost more then the item. So, I have come up with an alternative plan. I am nothing, if not resourceful.  I have proclaimed to the Mister a R O A D  T R I P!!!!  Haven't heard back on that request, as yet.  BUT, if mama ain't happy happy  happy,, ain't NOBODY happy happy happy. See where I am going with this??  Probably to Harbor Freight! And, OH MY, we ought to just go a few more miles to J O A N N S. Then, Mama will be so happy happy happy!

You go girl!  After all, what's the fun in spending $5.95 in shipping charges when you can make an all day adventure out of it?!?!?!?!

Plus, I imagine Hubby will like Harbor Freight as well.

Angele & Diane, I also have a Sapphire with the longer throat.  I am still learning how to use it but so far I really like it.  I am working on quilting a queen size quilt and it goes much easier than my regular machine.  I do wish I had bought the more upgraded version of the Sapphire that lets you know when the bobbin is empty.  But for the extra $$$$ I am ok with it.  Good luck.

Joyce, I also have the Sapphire. It has a 10" throat and I just quilted a 100x100 quilt. Didn't go badly at all. I agree with you about the bobbin empty signal.  I wasn't willing to pay extra for it. Kind of sorry now ,as I tend to sew merrily on not noticing the lack of a bobbin thread! I chain stitched 50 HST before I noticed only the first one was sewn together! I have to tell you, I snarled about that for a bit before I had to laugh at myself.

Judy, I have a Sapphire, too, and have done the very same thing.  Isn't it maddening?  Next time, if there is one, I'll be sure to get the one that signals when the bobbin is almost empty.  I think I got the cheapest model because it doesn't have an automatic thread cutter either, which is why I do a lot of chain stitching.

In Reno, Harbor Freight is right next door to JoAnn's....makes it pretty easy.  I go into JoAnn's and DH goes into Harbor Freight.

I hate to admit it, but it was my DH's idea when he accidentally knocked the pins off of my sewing table.
