Hi just a quick question,
Instead of using binding on quilting has anyone used the thick fabric ribbon, im not thinking of using it on quilts but i thought it might be fun on placemats, coasters that kind of thing.
ribbon like this.
What do you think???
lots of love
Frances I use ribbon as embellishments but I don't think using it as binding on small project would be to bad .I might give it a shot on some of my mug rugs and see how it works. Barbara
EAT!! SLEEP !! QUILT!!
I just thought it might be a bit different especially for my secret santa gifts.
I would be a little bit worried about the ribbon wearing out too quickly. Not saying you shouldn't try it, of course! That's just what would concern me.
Frances, I think it is a great idea.
That is SO post card ribbon!!! Just great ribbon.
Frances, I've never tried it, but those ribbons are great! :)
Finally got to sew today, after being out of town for 3 weeks and then a week back. Here is the baby quilt top that I whipped up tonight for the grandbaby due the end of July.
Cute quilt....I'm a real Mickey and Minnie fan. I need to whip up another baby blanket as I've got a grandbaby coming in December if everything goes right this time. She miscarried last year.
Frances I did use very wide ribbon on a baby quilt as a binding. it seems to work okay . and the parents washed it often . I had forgotten that . Barbara
You can probably use a woven edge grosgrain or satin ribbon. Make sure that it is a woven edge ribbon so that the edges don't fray when it is washed.
